Bulgaria has taken another major step towards hosting the Eurovision Song Contest 2027, with the Council of Ministers officially establishing the national Organising Committee responsible for preparing and delivering the event.

Deputy Prime Minister Ivo Hristov

The committee will be chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Ivo Hristov and brings together senior representatives from across the Bulgarian government. Members include the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, the Deputy Prime Minister responsible for European funds, the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Interior, Health, Culture, Youth and Sports, Tourism, as well as the Director General of Bulgarian National Television (BNT)

Its primary role is to coordinate every aspect of Bulgaria’s preparations for Eurovision 2027. Responsibilities include overseeing the selection and preparation of the host venue, financial planning, security, transport and infrastructure, accompanying cultural events, international promotion and cooperation with the European Broadcasting Union (EBU). The committee will also ensure close coordination between all institutions involved in organising the contest.

According to the government’s decision, the committee was tasked with preparing a comprehensive action plan covering all stages of the organisation. That roadmap will guide preparations leading up to Eurovision 2027, including the host city selection process, venue development, procurement, logistics and operational planning.

ESC 2026 Winner from Bulgaria – DARA

The establishment of the Organising Committee marks one of the most significant milestones since DARA’s historic Eurovision 2026 victory, which secured Bulgaria the right to host the contest for the first time. With preparations now officially underway, attention is expected to shift towards the final host city decision between Sofia and Burgas, as Bulgaria continues its countdown to welcoming Europe in 2027.
