She rose to prominence in 2011 after participating in season 8 of Deutschland sucht den Superstar, where she was eliminated from the Top 10, only to return two shows later and eventually become the runner-up. In 2020, she represented Italy at the Free European Song Contest 2020 with the song “Te Amo Mi Amor”, finishing 13th out of 16. In 2026, she represented Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 in Vienna with her song “Fire” after winning the German selection for the contest.

Benjamin Dolić (born 4 May 1997), known professionally as Ben Dolic, is a Slovenian singer. He gained popularity in Germany after his participation in the eighth season of The Voice of Germany. Dolic would have represented Germany in the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 held in Rotterdam with the song “Violent Thing” before it was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Sister” is a 2019 single by German duo Sisters (stylised as S!sters). The song represented Germany in the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 in Tel Aviv, Israel after winning Unser Lied für Israel, Germany’s national final. He began his singing career in 2008, posting covers on his YouTube channel and later placed third on season one of The Voice of Germany in 2012. His debut studio album Wide Awake was released later that year. He represented Germany in the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 in Lisbon, Portugal, with the song “You Let Me Walk Alone”.

Isabella Levina Lueen (born 1 May 1991), better known mononymously as Levina (German pronunciation: [lɛˈviːna]), is a German singer-songwriter. She represented Germany in the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 in Kyiv with the song “Perfect Life” and finished in 25th place with 6 points in the final.

“Ghost” is a song performed by German singer Jamie-Lee Kriewitz. The song represented Germany in the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 in Stockholm, Sweden, and was written by Thomas Burchia (better known as DJ Thomilla), Anna Leyne, and Conrad Hensel. The song was released as a digital download on 12 December 2015 through Polydor and Island Records. It was also performed as Kriewitz’s winner’s single during season five of The Voice of Germany.

Ann-Sophie Dürmeyer (born 1 September 1990), better known as simply Ann Sophie, is a German singer. She represented Germany in the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 with the song “Black Smoke”.

Elaiza (German: [ɛlaˈiːza]) is a German band from Berlin that represented Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 in Copenhagen, Denmark, with their song “Is It Right”. The leader of the group is Elżbieta “Ela” Steinmetz. She was born in Ukraine and is of mixed Polish and Ukrainian origin as her mother comes from Poland and her father is from Ukraine. This cultural background is reflected in the sound of her songs.

Cascada (, Spanish, ‘Waterfall’) is a German Eurodance music act founded in 2004 by singer Natalie Horler and composers/record producers DJ Manian and DJ Yanou. They consisted in a trio until 2021, with their last track together being “One Last Dance”. Since then, Natalie has fronted the group as a solo project, which was confirmed with the release in 2024 of Cascada’s fifth studio album, Studio 24, produced by Christian Geller. They are best known for the hit singles “Everytime We Touch”, “What Hurts the Most”, “Evacuate the Dancefloor” and “Miracle”. Cascada represented Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 with “Glorious”, finishing in 21st place with 18 points.

Roman Lob (born 2 July 1990) is a German singer-songwriter. In early 2012, Lob was a contestant in the German TV show Unser Star für Baku, produced by the German broadcasting stations Pro7 and Das Erste. He is also the lead singer of the band Rooftop Kingdom, an alternative rock band with origins in Neustadt (Wied). He was also a founding member of German Metalcore band, Days of Despite. Roman Lob represented Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 with “Standing Still”, finishing in 8th place with 110 points.

No Angels are an all-female pop group formed in 2000 during the debut season of the German adaptation of the talent series Popstars. Originally a quintet, consisting of Nadja Benaissa, Lucy Diakovska, Sandy Mölling, Vanessa Petruo, and Jessica Wahls, the band quickly became one of the most commercially successful pop acts in German music history. Their debut single, “Daylight in Your Eyes” (2001), reached number one in several European countries and is among the best-selling singles in Germany. Their first album, Elle’ments (2001), likewise topped the charts and initiated a series of number-one releases, major tours, and industry awards. No Angels represented Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest 2008 with “Disappear”, finishing in 23rd place with 14 points.

Roger Marcel Cicero Ciceu (6 July 1970 – 24 March 2016) was a German jazz and pop musician. Roger Cicero represented Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest 2007 with “Frauen regier’n die Welt”, finishing in 19th place with 49 points.

Texas Lightning is a German quintet from Hamburg which fits in the country music genre and describes itself as old fashioned and hip. Their music is a mix of country and pop drawing from country classic stars like Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, Johnny Cash and Tammy Wynette and pop stars such as ABBA, Nancy Sinatra, Linda Ronstadt, Madonna, Michael Jackson and the Beatles, performed with some country humour. The band members are Olli Dittrich as Ringofire (drums and vocals), Jon Flemming Olsen as The Flame (vocals and guitar), Markus Schmidt as Fastfinger (electric guitar and banjo), Uwe Frenzel as Friendly (doublebass and vocals) and Australian Jane Comerford (vocals and ukulele). The band’s first performance took place on 23 December 2000 in the music club “Knust” in Hamburg, as Texas Lightning & The Rodeo Rockets, although there have been various changes in the lineup of the band since. Texas Lightning represented Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 with “No No Never”, finishing in 14th place with 36 points.

Gracia Arabella Baur (born 18 November 1982), sometimes known mononymously as Gracia, is a German singer and songwriter. She rose to fame as a finalist on the debut season of the television series Deutschland sucht den Superstar, the German Idol series adaptation, placing fifth. Gracia represented Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest 2005 with “Run & Hide”, finishing in 24th place with 4 points.

Maximilian Nepomuk Mutzke (born 21 May 1981) is a German singer, songwriter and television personality. He gained public interest in early 2004 when he won SSDSGPS, a talent contest hosted in Stefan Raab’s late-night show TV total. Mutzke subsequently qualified for and won the national pre-selection for the Eurovision Song Contest 2004, Germany 12 Points!, and thus represented Germany with his debut single “Can’t Wait Until Tonight” that year, eventually finishing eighth in a field of 24 participants. Meanwhile, “Can’t Wait Until Tonight” debuted atop the German singles chart and became a top five hit in Austria and Switzerland.

Louise Hoffner (born 27 October 1963), known professionally as Lou, is a German pop singer. She toured with her band for 15 years, in Germany as well as abroad. Lou represented Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest 2003 with “Let’s Get Happy”, finishing in 11th place with 53 points.

Corinna May (born 6 October 1970 in Bremen, Germany as Corinna Meyer) is a blind singer. She represented Germany in the Eurovision Song Contest 2002 with the song “I Can’t Live Without Music”.

Tanja Gisela Hewer (born 15 February 1972), known by the stage name Michelle, is a German schlager singer. She represented Germany in the Eurovision Song Contest 2001 with the song Wer Liebe lebt (“To Live for Love”), which placed eighth from 23 participating countries with 66 points. Since her debut in 1992 she has won numerous awards, including two Echo awards, two Goldene Stimmgabeln and two Amadeus Austria awards. She sold more than 6,2 Million Copies in Europe.

Stefan Konrad Raab (born 20 October 1966) is a German entertainer, television host, producer, and businessman. From 1999 to 2015, he hosted the late-night comedy talk show TV total on ProSieben and also created a number of other television shows on the channel, most notably Schlag den Raab and Bundesvision Song Contest. Raab began his TV career hosting the comedy show Vivasion in 1993. He became well known in 1994 after composing a hit single spoofing national football coach Berti Vogts. Stefan Raab represented Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest 2000 with “Wadde hadde dudde da?”, finishing in 5th place with 96 points.

Germany was represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 1999 with the song “Reise nach Jerusalem – Kudüs’e Seyahat”, composed by Ralph Siegel, with lyrics by Bernd Meinunger, and performed by the group Sürpriz. The German participating broadcaster on behalf of ARD, Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR), organised the national final Countdown Grand Prix 1999 in order to select their entry for the contest. The national final took place on 12 March 1999 and featured eleven competing acts with the winner being selected through public televoting. “Hör den Kindern einfach zu” performed by Corinna May was originally selected as the German entry after gaining 32.6% of the votes, however the song was disqualified for having been released in 1997 by another act and replaced with runner-up “Reise nach Jerusalem – Kudüs’e Seyahat” performed by Sürpriz.

Horst Heinz Köhler (born 15 February 1963), known professionally as Guildo Horn (German pronunciation: [ˈɡɪldo ˈhɔʁn]), is a German Schlager singer. He is best known for his eccentric stage persona, which includes outrageous clothes and extroverted antics. At the Eurovision Song Contest 1998, he came seventh with the song “Guildo hat euch lieb!” (“Guildo loves you!”).

Bianca Shomburg (born 17 September 1974, Hiddenhausen, North Rhine-Westphalia) is a German singer, best known for her participation in the 1997 Eurovision Song Contest.

Germany has been represented at every Eurovision Song Contest since its inaugural edition in 1956, except in 1996 when its entry did not qualify past the audio-only pre-selection round, and consequently did not enter the final and does not count as one of its 69 appearances. Münchener Freiheit represented Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest 1993 with “Viel zu weit”, finishing in 18th place with 18 points.

Chris Kempers (born Christiane Kempers on 7 January 1965) is a German singer, best known for her participation in the 1990 Eurovision Song Contest. Kempers took part in the German Eurovision selection in 1988 as a member of group Rendezvous with “Du bist ein Stern für mich”, which only managed tenth place. In early 1990, she appeared on a television programme imitating Jennifer Rush, and was noticed by Ralph Siegel, who offered her the opportunity to perform one of his songs as a duet with Slovenian singer Daniel Kovac in the 1990 Eurovision selection, which was held on 29 March in Munich. Kempers and Kovac went on to win the selection with the song, entitled “Frei zu leben” (“Free to Live”).

Domenico Gerhard Gorgoglione (born 18 December 1963), known professionally as Nino de Angelo, is a German singer. He is best known for his 1983 chart-topper “Jenseits von Eden”, and he participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 1989 with the song “Flieger”, written by Dieter Bohlen and Joachim Horn-Bernges.

She achieved success with songs such as “Theater” and “Es war einmal ein Jäger”. She was married to Christian Bruhn, who wrote many of her songs. Katja Ebstein represented Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest 1970 with “Wunder gibt es immer wieder”, finishing in 3rd place with 12 points; represented Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest 1971 with “Diese Welt”, finishing in 3rd place with 100 points; and later represented Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest 1980 with “Theater”, finishing in 2nd place with 128 points.

“Dschinghis Khan” (German pronunciation: [ˌdʒɪŋɡɪs ˈkaːn]; “Genghis Khan”) is a song recorded by German disco group Dschinghis Khan, with music composed by Ralph Siegel and lyrics by Bernd Meinunger. It represented West Germany in the Eurovision Song Contest 1979, held in Jerusalem, and was released as the first single from the group’s debut album, Dschinghis Khan. It was a number one hit in West Germany, and a top 10 hit also in Austria, Finland, Norway, and Switzerland. In addition to the German original version, the group also released the song in English.

Ireen Sheer (born 25 February 1949) is a German-English singer. She had her first major hit in 1970 with Hey Pleasure Man. She had a top five hit on the German singles chart with “Goodbye Mama” in 1973. She went on to finish fourth at the Eurovision Song Contest 1974 representing Luxembourg, sixth at the Eurovision Song Contest 1978 representing Germany, and thirteenth at the Eurovision Song Contest 1985 representing Luxembourg again.

Joy Fleming (born Erna Raad, 15 November 1944 – 27 September 2017) was a German singer. She is best known for her performance in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1975. She performed the song “Ein Lied kann eine Brücke sein” and was placed seventeenth out of nineteen countries. Despite its relatively low placing, the song has become popular amongst many Eurovision fans.

Cindy and Bert were a German schlager vocal duo from Völklingen, Saarland consisting of Jutta Gusenberger (born 26 January 1948) and Norbert Berger (12 September 1945 – 14 July 2012). They were most successful in the 1970s, and are known for their participation in the 1974 Eurovision Song Contest.

She represented Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest 1960 and West Germany in the Eurovision Song Contest 1969. She had a number one hit in West Germany in 1964 with “Liebeskummer lohnt sich nicht” (“Lovesickness Is Not Worthwhile”), and on 18 July 1964 she became the first Swede to have a hit on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart, when “Sole Sole Sole”, a duet with Italian singer Umberto Marcato, entered the chart, peaking at No. 58.

Wenche Synnøve Myhre (born 15 February 1947), known in German as Wencke Myhre, is a Norwegian singer who has had a great number of hit songs since the 1960s in the Norwegian, Danish, German and Swedish markets and languages. She represented Germany in the Eurovision Song Contest 1968.

Inge Brück (12 October 1936 – 8 September 2025) was a German singer and actress, best known internationally for her participation in the Eurovision Song Contest 1967. She starred in the title role of a popular 13-part series for ZDF, Miss Molly Mill, a cleaning lady and amateur detective. From the 1970s, she focused on performing songs with Christian content, co-founding with other Eurovision veterans such as Katja Ebstein an initiative Künstler für Christus.

Margot Eskens (12 August 1936 – 29 July 2022) was a German Schlager singer, most popular in the 1950s and 1960s. In 1956 and 1957 she had two #1 hits, “Tiritomba” (which sold over 800,000 copies) and “Cindy, oh Cindy”, which was her biggest hit, which stayed for 25 weeks in the German Singles Top 10. Several duets with Silvio Francesco, the brother of Caterina Valente, also ensued. Eskens collaborated with producer/songwriter Kurt Feltz until 1961. Margot Eskens represented Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest 1966 with “Die Zeiger der Uhr”, finishing in 10th place with 7 points.

Ulla Wiesner (born 12 December 1940) is a German singer who was active from 1963 to 2002. In 1965, she represented West Germany in the Eurovision Song Contest, with “Paradies, wo bist du?” (Paradise, where are you?). The song scored zero points along with three other countries out of the total of eighteen countries that entered the contest. Other than the Eurovision Song Contest, where her zero-point result hurt her solo career before it had even fully begun, she was mainly active with the Botho-Lucas-Chorus, where she stayed as chorister for 30 years, notable for their musical accompaniment on the German TV show Musik ist Trumpf.

Ahinora Kumanova (Bulgarian: Ахинора Куманова; 8 May 1928 – 9 February 2022), better known by the stage name of Nora Nova, was a Bulgarian and German singer. She was the first Bulgarian to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest. She represented West Germany in 1964. Bulgaria itself first participated only in 2005.

Germany was represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 1963 with the song “Marcel”, written by Charly Niessen, and performed by Heidi Brühl. The German participating broadcaster on behalf of ARD, Hessischer Rundfunk (HR), selected its entry through a national final, after having previously selected the performer internally. Brühl had finished runner-up in the 1960 national final.

Germany was represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 1962 with the song “Zwei kleine Italiener”, composed by Christian Bruhn, with lyrics by George Buschor, and performed by Conny Froboess. The German participating broadcaster on behalf of ARD, Südwestfunk (SWF), selected its entry through a national final. Twelve artists and 24 songs took part in the German preselection, which consisted of four semi-finals, followed by the final on 17 February. Each show was held in a different German city.

Lale Andersen (23 March 1905 – 29 August 1972) was a German chanson singer-songwriter born in Lehe (now part of Bremerhaven). She is best known for her interpretation of the song “Lili Marleen” in 1939, which by 1942 transcended the conflict to become World War II’s biggest international hit. Popular with both the Axis and the Allies, Andersen’s original recording spawned versions, by the end of the War, in most of the major languages of Europe, and by some of the most popular artists in their respective countries. Lale Andersen represented Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest 1961 with “Einmal sehen wir uns wieder”, finishing in 13th place with 3 points.

Wyn Hoop (born 29 May 1936) is a German singer, birth name Winfried Lüssenhop, best known for his participation in the 1960 Eurovision Song Contest. Born in Hannover, in the early 1950s, Hoop formed a jazz band called the Capitellos, who toured and worked on radio before disbanding in 1958. Hoop started to make solo recordings, at first under the name Fred Lyssen, before settling on the professional name Wyn Hoop. In 1960, Hoop took part in the German Eurovision selection final, and his song “Bonne nuit ma chérie” was chosen to go forward to the fifth Eurovision Song Contest, held in London on 29 March.

Germany was represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 1959 with the song “Heute abend woll’n wir tanzen geh’n”, composed by Helmut Zander, with lyrics by Astrid Voltmann, and performed by Alice and Ellen Kessler. The German participating broadcaster on behalf of ARD, Hessischer Rundfunk (HR), internally selected the song and artists for the contest.

Margot Hielscher (29 September 1919 – 20 August 2017) was a German singer and film actress. She appeared in over fifty films between 1939 and 1994. Hielscher was born in Berlin. In 1957, she was chosen to represent Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest 1957 with the song “Telefon, Telefon” (Telephone, Telephone).

Freddy Quinn (born Franz Eugen Helmut Manfred Nidl; 27 September 1931) is a former Austrian singer and actor whose popularity in the German-speaking world soared in the late 1950s and 1960s. As Hans Albers had done two generations before him, Quinn adopted the persona of the rootless wanderer who goes to sea but longs for a home, family and friends. His father was long believed to be a supposed merchant named Johann Quinn (1912–1943), who was of Irish descent and was said to have been married to Quinn’s mother for a few months in 1934. However, in his 2025 autobiography, Freddy Quinn wrote that this man never existed and that he never met his actual father; furthermore, he had adopted his Irish last name from an American soldier he had met in his early twenties. Freddy Quinn represented Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest 1956 with “So geht das jede Nacht”.
