She represented Romania in the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 with the song “Choke Me” and finished in third place, her country’s best result.

Theodor-Octavian Andrei (Romanian: [te.oˈdor oktaviˈan anˈdrej]; born 9 October 2004), is a Romanian singer-songwriter, actor and theatre director. He represented Romania at the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 with the song “D.G.T. (Off and On)”.

Ester Alexandra Crețu (Romanian pronunciation: [ˈester alekˈsandra ˈkret͡su]; born 21 July 1993), known professionally as Ester Peony (formerly only Ester), is a Romanian singer and songwriter. She represented Romania in the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 with the song “On a Sunday” after winning the selection show Selecția Națională 2019. However, she failed to qualify for the Grand Final in Tel Aviv. Peony started to compose music for Romanian artists before gaining recognition for posting covers on YouTube in 2015.

The Humans is a Romanian band from Bucharest. The group consists of vocalist Cristina Caramarcu, guitarist Alexandru Cismaru, keyboardist Alexandru Matei, bassist Alin Neagoe, and drummer Adi Tetrade. They represented Romania in the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 in Lisbon, Portugal, with the song “Goodbye”. “Yodel It!” is a song recorded by Romanian singers Ilinca and Alex Florea, released on 30 January 2017 by Cat Music. The track was written by Alexandra Niculae and produced by Mihai Alexandru for the Swiss band Timebelle who rejected it. It was then given to Ilinca to record. Florea was chosen as a featured artist as both Alexandru and Ilinca felt her version was incomplete. Ilinca feat. Alex Florea represented Romania at the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 with “Yodel It!”, finishing in 7th place with 282 points.

They are widely regarded as one of the most successful bands in Romanian history, known for popular songs such as “20”, “De la capăt” and “De mâine” being household hits. Voltaj represented Romania at the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 with “De la capăt”, finishing in 15th place with 35 points.

She has released more than thirteen albums (including three Christmas albums) and over twenty singles, which include two top-ten hits in the Romanian Top 100, and a minor European hit which entered the charts in Finland and Norway, as well as the UK Singles Chart. Together with Ovidiu Cernăuțeanu, Seling has represented Romania in the Eurovision Song Contest twice: in 2010 with the song “Playing with Fire”, finishing 3rd, and in 2014 with the song “Miracle”, finishing 12th. In 2010 she participated in Dansez Pentru Tine (Romanian “Dancing with the Stars”), finishing 3rd.

Florin Cezar Ouatu (Romanian pronunciation: [floˈrin ˈt͡ʃezar oˈwatu]; born 18 February 1980), known as Cezar or by the nickname the Voice (Romanian: Vocea), is a Romanian opera countertenor, singer, and pianist. Cezar represented Romania at the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 with “It’s My Life”, finishing in 13th place with 65 points.

Mandinga is a Romanian pop group band from Bucharest. The original soloist of the band was Elena Gheorghe who left in 2005. From 2006 until 2016, the lead vocalist was Elena Ionescu. Ionescu left the band in March 2016 to pursue a solo career and was replaced by Spanish singer Barbara Isasi. Mandinga represented Romania at the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 with “Zaleilah”, finishing in 12th place with 71 points.

Hotel FM is a Romanian band, formed in April 2005 by British expatriate David Bryan and his friends Gabriel Băruţa and Alex Szűz. The band held concerts in several cities in Romania and Germany and launched a promotional CD in spring 2006. Founding member Bryan, who is lead singer, is originally from Newton Aycliffe in North East England, where he worked as a binman before settling in Romania. The Hotel FM story began in 2005, when the Romanian composer Gabriel Băruţa recruited a few musicians from his hometown Oradea to create a new sound, a modern pop-rock feel based on melody and innovation, specific to the songs he wrote. Hotel FM represented Romania at the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 with “Change”, finishing in 17th place with 77 points.

In the first half of the 2000s, she joined the Romanian pop group Mandinga, with whom she released two albums. In 2006, she left the group and pursued a solo career. She has released three studio albums and one compilation album. Elena represented Romania at the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 with “The Balkan Girls”, finishing in 19th place with 40 points.

Nicoleta Matei (born 1 February 1970), known by her stage name Nico, is a Romanian singer and TV personality. She collaborated with several Romanian hip hop artists, such as Morometzii (in 1999), B.U.G. Mafia (in 2000, 2002), Cabron (in 2003, 2007, 2010), Puya, Blat Jargon, and Codu Penal. She represented Romania along with Vlad in the Eurovision Song Contest 2008 with the song “Pe-o margine de lume”.

Romania was represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 2007 with the song “Liubi, Liubi, I Love You”, written by Vlad Crețu, Kamara Ghedi, and Bogdan Tașcău, and performed by the group Todomondo. The Romanian participating broadcaster, Televiziunea Română (TVR), held the national final Selecția Națională 2007 in order to select its entry for the contest. Controversy surrounded the event, as TVR disqualified several entries over the course of the competition. He represented Romania at the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 with the song “Tornerò”, finishing fourth, one of Romania’s best results in the competition.

Luminița Anghel (Romanian pronunciation: [lumiˈnitsa ˈaŋɡel]; born 7 October 1968) is a Romanian singer, TV personality and politician. She is internationally known for representing Romania at the Eurovision Song Contest 2005 along with percussion band Sistem. Their song, “Let Me Try”, reached the third place in the final after placing first in the semi-finals; their appearance marks the country’s best result in the contest along with 2010’s “Playing with Fire” performed by Paula Seling and Ovi and 2026’s “Choke Me” performed by Alexandra Căpitănescu. Anghel particularly experienced success in her native country with follow-up recordings, resulting her receiving an offer from Walt Disney Pictures to provide vocals for Tangled’s Mother Gothel in 2010.
