Slovakia

Miro Šmajda (also known as MYO and Max J Mai, born 27 November 1988) is a Slovak singer and photographer living in Prague. He represented Slovakia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 with the song “Don’t Close Your Eyes”.

Slovakia was represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 with the song “I’m Still Alive”, written by Bryan Todd, Sandra Nordstrom, and Branislav Jančich, and was performed by the duo Twiins. The Slovak participating broadcaster, Rozhlas a televízia Slovenska (RTVS), internally selected its entry for the contest. “I’m Still Alive” performed by Twiins was announced as the Slovak entry on 18 February 2011. The song was presented to the public on 3 March 2011.

Kristína Peláková (born 20 August 1987), known professionally as Kristína, is a Slovak singer. She is best known for representing Slovakia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 with the song “Horehronie”. The song placed 16th in the semi-final with a total of 24 points. Kristína is one of the most popular female artists in Slovakia and the Czech Republic, and has toured both countries on multiple occasions.

Kamil Mikulčík (born November 18, 1977) is a Slovak singer and actor who represented Slovakia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 with Nela Pocisková. They failed to reach the final.

Slovakia was represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 1998 with the song “Modlitba”, composed by Gabriel Dušík, with lyrics by Anna Wepperyová, and performed by Katarína Hasprová. The Slovak participating broadcaster, Slovenská televízia (STV), selected its performer for the contest through Bratislavská lýra ’97 and, subsequently, the song internally once the national final was over. The competition was held on 7 June 1997 where Katarína Hasprová eventually emerged as the winner. The song Hasprová performed at the contest, “Modlitba”, was released on 9 March.

Marcel Palonder (born 3 February 1964 in Humenné, Czechoslovakia) is a Slovak singer. He represented his country in the Eurovision Song Contest 1996 with the song “Kým nás máš”. His song qualified from the semifinal, and it placed 18th place with 19 points in the final, receiving points from four other countries: four points from Greece, eight points from Malta, five points from Poland and two points from Spain. As of 2026, this remains the best result Slovakia has ever achieved in Eurovision.

Martin “Maťo” Ďurinda (born 8 November 1961) is the vocalist and guitarist of the Slovak hard rock/heavy metal band Tublatanka. His hometown is Bratislava, Slovakia. Martin Ďurinda represented Slovakia at the Eurovision Song Contest 1994 with “Nekonečná pieseň”, finishing in 19th place with 15 points.
