Sam James Bartle (born 3 February 1989), known by the stage names Sam Battle and Look Mum No Computer, is an English musician, YouTuber, electronics enthusiast, and composer. He posts videos about making pro audio equipment and synthesisers, as well as original music. Bartle builds unusual and eccentric electronic musical devices made from vintage technology, such devices as a Furby organ, a synthesiser fused with a classic Raleigh Chopper bicycle, and a Game Boy Triple Oscillator synthesiser. Battle runs This Museum Is (Not) Obsolete, a museum in Ramsgate, Kent, which showcases vintage analogue devices repurposed for humorous uses. Look Mum No Computer represented United Kingdom at the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 with “Eins, Zwei, Drei”, finishing in 25th place with 1 points.

Remember Monday are an English country pop girl group consisting of members Lauren Byrne, Holly-Anne Hull and Charlotte Steele. The group gained prominence after appearing on The Voice UK in 2019. They represented the United Kingdom in the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 with the song “What the Hell Just Happened?”, finishing in tenth with the juries and 19th overall in the contest.

Oliver Alexander Thornton (born 15 July 1990) is an English singer, songwriter, actor, and LGBTQ activist who rose to prominence as the lead singer of the English pop band Years & Years, achieving two No. 1 albums on the UK Albums Chart, a No. 1 single and five Top 10 entries on the UK Singles Chart. He continued to release music under the band’s name between 2021 and 2023 until their dissolution in 2024. Olly Alexander represented United Kingdom at the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 with “Dizzy”, finishing in 18th place with 46 points.

Holly Mae Muller (born 26 August 1997), known professionally as Mae Holly Muller, is an English singer. She rose to prominence in 2021 after releasing the single “Better Days”, a collaboration with Swedish music collective Neiked and American rapper Polo G, which went on to chart in the top 40 in both the United Kingdom and United States. She represented the United Kingdom in the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 in Liverpool, with “I Wrote a Song”. In the final, the song finished in 25th place with 24 points.

Sam Ryder Robinson (born 25 June 1989) is an English singer, songwriter, producer, actor, composer and social media personality. He rose to prominence in 2020 after posting music covers on TikTok during the first UK lockdown of the COVID-19 pandemic, and signed to Parlophone Records before parting ways with them in 2023. His music has since incorporated various genres including rock, pop, alternative rock, and metalcore, while his vocal range, and use of vibrato and falsetto, has garnered critical acclaim. Ryder’s breakthrough came after he represented the United Kingdom in the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 with “Space Man”.

James Richard Newman (born 19 October 1985) is an English singer. During the 2014 Brit Awards, he won the Brit Award for British Single of the Year as a co-writer of “Waiting All Night”, a song by the English band Rudimental. Newman was selected to represent the United Kingdom at the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 with the song, “My Last Breath” before its cancellation. He instead represented the country in the Eurovision Song Contest 2021 with the song “Embers”, which came in last place with nul points.

In 2024, Rice auditioned for the 22nd season of American Idol.

Susanna Marie Cork (born 18 February 1989), known professionally as SuRie, is an English singer and songwriter. She was born in Harlow, Essex, and raised in Bishop’s Stortford, Hertfordshire. SuRie represented United Kingdom at the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 with “Storm”, finishing in 24th place with 48 points.

Lucie Bethan Jones (born 20 March 1991) is a Welsh singer, actress and model. Jones first came to prominence while competing on series 6 of The X Factor UK in 2009, where she was the fifth contestant eliminated during the live shows. She represented the United Kingdom in the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 with the song “Never Give Up on You”, finishing with 111 points in 15th place. She’s also performed in musical theatre, most notably starring in Les Misérables and Waitress.

Joe and Jake were a British duo consisting of Joe Woolford and Jake Shakeshaft. They represented the United Kingdom in the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 in Stockholm with the song “You’re Not Alone”. In 2015, they both participated in the fourth series of the talent show The Voice UK and became a duo after the show ended.

Electro Velvet were a British vocal duo that represented the United Kingdom in the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 with the song “Still in Love with You” finishing 24th. The duo consist of Alex Larke and Bianca Nicholas.

Molly Alice Smitten-Downes (born 2 April 1985), known by her mononym Molly, is an English singer and songwriter. Molly represented United Kingdom at the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 with “Children of the Universe”, finishing in 17th place with 40 points.

Gaynor Sullivan (née Hopkins; 8 June 1951 – 8 July 2026), known professionally as Bonnie Tyler, was a Welsh singer. Known for her distinctive husky voice, she came to prominence with the release of her debut studio album The World Starts Tonight (1977) and its singles “Lost in France” and “More Than a Lover”. Her 1977 single “It’s a Heartache” reached number four on the UK singles chart and number three on the US Billboard Hot 100. In the 1980s, Tyler ventured into rock music with songwriter and producer Jim Steinman. Bonnie Tyler represented United Kingdom at the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 with “Believe in Me”, finishing in 19th place with 23 points.

Arnold George Dorsey (born 2 May 1936), known professionally as Engelbert Humperdinck, is a British singer. He achieved international success in 1967 with his recording of “Release Me”. Humperdinck started as a performer in the late 1950s under the name “Gerry Dorsey”, but found success after 1965 when he partnered with manager Gordon Mills, who advised him to adopt the name of German composer Engelbert Humperdinck as a stage name. His recordings of the ballads “Release Me” and “The Last Waltz” topped the UK Singles Chart in 1967, selling more than a million copies each. Engelbert Humperdinck represented United Kingdom at the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 with “Love Will Set You Free”, finishing in 25th place with 12 points.

Blue are an English boy band consisting of members Simon Webbe, Duncan James, Antony Costa, and Lee Ryan. The group formed in 2000 and released three studio albums before announcing a hiatus in late 2004. The group represented the United Kingdom at the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 with the song “I Can”, coming in 11th place with 100 points. In 2013, it was confirmed that the group would be joining The Big Reunion, in which six groups from the past (including Liberty X, Atomic Kitten and 5ive) reform for a one-off gig.

The United Kingdom was represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 with the song “That Sounds Good to Me”, written by Pete Waterman, Mike Stock, and Steve Crosby, and performed by Josh Dubovie. The British participating broadcaster, the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), selected its entry in the contest via the national final Eurovision: Your Country Needs You 2010. Six acts competed in the national final and the winner was selected through two rounds of voting. As a member of the “Big Four”, the United Kingdom automatically qualified to compete in the final of the Eurovision Song Contest.

Jade Louise Ewen (born 24 January 1988) is an English singer, actress and a former member of the girl group Sugababes. She began her singing career in a girl group named Trinity Stone, which signed with Sony BMG in 2005 but disbanded in 2007 without releasing an album. In 2009, after winning the right, she represented the United Kingdom in the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 by performing the Andrew Lloyd Webber / Diane Warren penned “It’s My Time”. She finished in fifth place.

Andrew Abraham (born 17 July 1964) is a British singer. He was the runner-up in the second UK series of TV talent show The X Factor in 2005 to Shayne Ward, and also represented the United Kingdom in the Eurovision Song Contest 2008. Before applying for The X Factor, Abraham was a refuse collector. Prior to this, he worked as a bus driver for Arriva London North based at Palmers Green bus garage.

Scooch are a British pop group, comprising performers Natalie Powers, Caroline Barnes, David Ducasse and Russ Spencer. Scooch represented the United Kingdom in the Eurovision Song Contest 2007 in Helsinki with their song “Flying the Flag (For You)”, finishing joint 22nd out of 24 entries after receiving 19 points in the final. The song reached number 5 in the UK Top 40 Singles Chart on 13 May 2007 after having been available for download for two months before that.

Darren “Daz” Sampson (born 28 November 1974) is a British singer-songwriter, rapper, record producer, and football manager. Sampson is known for his commercial dance music, as part of several groups, and his television appearances. He has had nine Top 30 UK singles. In 2006, he represented the UK in the Eurovision Song Contest with “Teenage Life”, a top 10 hit.

“Touch My Fire” is the fifth single by English singer Javine (her first for Island Records), serving as the United Kingdom entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2005. It was the first new material from Javine since her debut album, Surrender, was released in 2004. The single reached the number 18 on the UK Singles Chart, giving Javine her fifth consecutive top-20 hit. The version on the single is slightly different from the one that appeared on the Eurovision Song Contest 2005 album, with an extra verse and shorter dance break.

James Richard Mullett (born 6 April 1976), known professionally as James Fox, is a Welsh pop singer and musician. He represented the United Kingdom in the Eurovision Song Contest 2004 in Istanbul. In 2008, he wrote and recorded the Cardiff City F.C. FA Cup Final song, “Bluebirds Flying High”.

Jemini (formerly Tricity) are a British pop group from Liverpool, best known for scoring nul points and finishing in last place at the Eurovision Song Contest 2003 with “Cry Baby”.

Jessica Julie Anne Garlick (born 1981) is a Welsh pop singer. Garlick made her first steps into show business when she was 16. At that age, she won the Welsh final of BBC One’s talent show Star for a Night. The same year she also featured in Michael Barrymore’s My Kind of Music. Jessica Garlick represented United Kingdom at the Eurovision Song Contest 2002 with “Come Back”, finishing in 3rd place with 111 points.

Lindsay Dracass (born 3 September 1984) is an English pop music singer. Lindsay Dracass represented United Kingdom at the Eurovision Song Contest 2001 with “No Dream Impossible”, finishing in 15th place with 28 points.

Nicola Sharon French (born 26 September 1964) is an English singer. She is best known for her 1995 dance cover version of Bonnie Tyler’s “Total Eclipse of the Heart”, which reached the US and UK top 5, and for representing the United Kingdom in the Eurovision Song Contest 2000 in Stockholm.

Precious was a British girl group consisting of Louise Rose, Anya Lahiri, Sophie McDonnell, Kalli Clark-Sternberg, and Jenny Frost. They first achieved fame as the UK’s entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 1999 with their song “Say It Again” and went on to become a moderately popular act until the group disbanded in late 2000.

Imaani Saleem (born Melonie Crosdale on 1 January 1972) is an English singer, best known for representing the United Kingdom (host country) at the Eurovision Song Contest 1998 in Birmingham with the song “Where Are You”. The song placed second in the contest, and became a top-20 hit in the United Kingdom and Benelux. Although “Where Are You?” remains her only solo chart entry, in 2000 she re-entered the top 20 of the UK Singles Chart alongside Tru Faith & Dub Conspiracy with their version of “Freak Like Me”. Later, she recorded many songs with jazz-dance group Incognito, and in 2014 released her debut studio album, Standing Tall.

Katrina and the Waves were an English rock band formed in Cambridge in 1981, widely known for their 1985 hit “Walking on Sunshine”. They won the Eurovision Song Contest 1997 with the song “Love Shine a Light”.

Gina G (born Gina Mary Gardiner, 3 August 1970) is an Australian former singer. She is most notable for her song “Ooh Aah… Just a Little Bit”, with which she represented the United Kingdom in the Eurovision Song Contest 1996. The song reached number 1 in the UK Singles Chart and reached the US top 20 in 1997.

“Love City Groove” is a song by British rap group Love City Groove that represented the United Kingdom at the Eurovision Song Contest 1995.

Frances Ruffelle (born 29 August 1965) is an English musical theatre actress and singer. She won a Tony Award in 1987, and represented the United Kingdom in the Eurovision Song Contest 1994 with the song “Lonely Symphony (We Will Be Free)”, finishing 10th. The song became a UK Top 30 hit. In 1984, Ruffelle starred as Dinah in the original West End production of Starlight Express.

Sonia Evans (born 13 February 1971), known mononymously as Sonia, is an English singer. She had a 1989 UK number one hit with “You’ll Never Stop Me Loving You” and became the first female UK artist to achieve five top 20 hit singles from one album.. She represented the United Kingdom in the Eurovision Song Contest 1993, where she finished second with the song “Better the Devil You Know”. Between 1989 and 1993, she had 11 UK top 30 hits, including “Listen to Your Heart” (1989), “Counting Every Minute” (1990) and “Only Fools (Never Fall in Love)” (1991).

Michael Ashley Ball (born 27 June 1962) is an English singer, presenter and actor. In 1985, he made his West End debut as Marius Pontmercy in the original production of Les Misérables. In 1989, he reached number two in the UK singles chart with “Love Changes Everything”, from the musical Aspects of Love, where he played Alex Dillingham. He played the role in the West End and on Broadway. Michael Ball represented United Kingdom at the Eurovision Song Contest 1992 with “One Step Out of Time”, finishing in 2nd place with 139 points.

“A Message to Your Heart”, written and composed by Paul Curtis, was the United Kingdom’s entry at the Eurovision Song Contest 1991, performed by singer and actress Samantha Janus. The song finished in 10th place with 47 points. Paul Curtis had also penned the previous year’s entry, “Give a Little Love Back to the World”. Janus went on to become a successful actress, starring in the sitcom Game On and the soap EastEnders.

Emma (born Emma Louise Booth, 2 August 1974) is a Welsh singer who represented the United Kingdom in the Eurovision Song Contest 1990 with “Give a Little Love Back to the World”. This was the third of four entries representing the UK composed by Paul Curtis. The song finished sixth in the Contest, and climbed to No. 33 in the UK Singles Chart.

Scott Fitzgerald (born William McPhail; 28 April 1948) is a Scottish singer and musical actor, who experienced international music chart success in the 1970s and later represented the United Kingdom at the Eurovision Song Contest 1988 where he finished second, only one point behind Celine Dion.

The United Kingdom was represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 1987 with the song “Only the Light”, written and performed by Rikki. The British participating broadcaster, the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), selected its entry through a national final.

Ryder was a purpose-made pop group led by Maynard Williams whose primary purpose was to represent the United Kingdom at the Eurovision Song Contest 1986. Ryder performed the song “Runner in the Night” which was placed 7th. They were criticised in the media for being a particularly weak and unsuitable entry. The song was the first UK Eurovision entry to fail to reach the top 75 since 1964, managing a peak of only #98.

“Love Is…”, is a song written by James Kaleth and Vikki Watson, and performed by Vikki. It represented the United Kingdom in the Eurovision Song Contest 1985. The first female soloist to compete for UK at Eurovision since Olivia Newton-John with “Long Live Love” in 1974 and also the second female composer of a UK Eurovision entrant to sing her composition in the contest (after Lynsey de Paul), Watson won the right to perform at Gothenburg by winning the UK national final, A Song for Europe, where she was the first singer to perform. In Gothenburg, the song was performed fourteenth on the night, after Norway’s Bobbysocks!

“Love Games”, is a song written by Paul Curtis and Graham Sacher, and performed by the trio Belle and the Devotions, which was headed by Kit Rolfe. It represented the United Kingdom in the Eurovision Song Contest 1984. Belle and the Devotions won the right to perform at Luxembourg by winning the UK national final, A Song for Europe, where they were the fourth act to perform. In Luxembourg, the song was performed sixth on the night, following Norway’s Dollie de Luxe with “Lenge leve livet” and preceding Cyprus’ Andy Paul with “Anna Maria Lena”.

Sweet Dreams was a British vocal trio composed of Carrie Gray (later Grant), Helen Kray and Bobby McVay. This teen trio represented the UK in the Eurovision Song Contest 1983 with the song “I’m Never Giving Up”.

Bardo was a male/female pop music duo (Sally Ann Triplett and Stephen Fischer) formed to represent the United Kingdom in the Eurovision Song Contest 1982 with the song “One Step Further”.

Bucks Fizz are an English pop group that achieved success in the 1980s, most notably for winning the Eurovision Song Contest 1981 with the song “Making Your Mind Up”. The group was formed in January 1981 specifically for the contest and comprised four vocalists: Bobby G, Cheryl Baker, Mike Nolan and Jay Aston. They received attention for the dance routine which accompanied the song, in which the male members of the group ripped the female members’ outer skirts off to reveal much shorter mini-skirts beneath (in line with the part of the lyrics “…if you want to see some more”). The group went on to have a successful career around the world (although they were commercially unsuccessful in the United States), but the UK remained their biggest market, where they had three No.1 singles with “Making Your Mind Up” (1981), “The Land of Make Believe” (1981) and “My Camera Never Lies” (1982) and became one of the top-selling groups of the 1980s.

Prima Donna were the United Kingdom representatives in the Eurovision Song Contest 1980. The group comprised sisters Kate and Jane Robbins, Sally Ann Triplett, Danny Finn, Alan Coates and Lance Aston (brother of Jay Aston, who performed with Bucks Fizz, the following year’s contest winners). Finn was a former member of The New Seekers and was married to fellow ex-New Seeker Eve Graham. Robbins later embarked on a successful career as a comedian, impressionist and actress.

Black Lace are a British pop band best known for novelty party records, including their biggest hit “Agadoo” as well as “Superman” and “Do the Conga”. They first came to the public eye when they represented the United Kingdom in the Eurovision Song Contest 1979 with the song “Mary Ann”. At that time, the band consisted of Colin Gibb (known as Colin Routh until 1987), Alan Barton, Steve Scholey and Terry Dobson. The band has undergone numerous line-up changes, with Scholey and Dobson leaving in 1981, followed by Barton in 1987, while Gibb, with the exception of a brief departure during 1986–1987, stayed until 2002.

Co-Co was a six-piece British band which represented the United Kingdom in the Eurovision Song Contest 1978, staged at the Palais de Congrès in Paris, France, on 22 April 1978, with the song “The Bad Old Days”. The song was written by the song writing team Stephanie de Sykes and Stuart Slater (aka Stewart James). It was finally placed eleventh of the 20 entries, which at the time was the worst showing ever for a UK entry. It would not be until 1987 that any British song fared worse in Eurovision.

Lynsey de Paul (born Lyndsey Monckton Rubin; 11 June 1948 – 1 October 2014) was an English singer-songwriter and record producer. After initially writing hits for others, she had her own chart hits in the UK and Europe in the 1970s, starting with UK top 10 single “Sugar Me”, and became the first British female artist to achieve a number one with a self-written song (in 1972 in Belgium, Spain and the Netherlands). She represented the UK in the Eurovision Song Contest 1977 alongside Mike Moran with the song “Rock Bottom”, finishing in second place and scoring another chart-topping hit in Switzerland, and had a successful career as a songwriter, record producer, actress and television celebrity.

Brotherhood of Man were a British pop group who achieved success in the 1970s with three number one hits in the UK. They won the Eurovision Song Contest 1976 with “Save Your Kisses for Me”. Created in 1969 by songwriter and record producer Tony Hiller, Brotherhood of Man was initially an umbrella title for a frequently-changing line-up of session singers. Early on, they scored a worldwide hit with the song “United We Stand”.

“Let Me Be the One” is a song written by Paul Curtis and performed by the band The Shadows. It represented the United Kingdom in the Eurovision Song Contest 1975. The song was performed ninth that night. At the close of voting, it had received 138 points, placing it 2nd out of 19.

Dame Olivia Newton-John (26 September 1948 – 8 August 2022) was a British and Australian singer, songwriter and actress. With over 100 million records sold, Newton-John is one of the best-selling music artists of all time, as well as the highest-selling female Australian recording artist of all time. In 1978, Newton-John starred in the musical film Grease, which was the highest-grossing musical film at the time and whose soundtrack remains one of the world’s best-selling albums. It features two major hit duets with co-star John Travolta: “You’re the One That I Want”—which is one of the best-selling singles of all time—and “Summer Nights”. Olivia Newton-John represented United Kingdom at the Eurovision Song Contest 1974 with “Long Live Love”, finishing in 4th place with 14 points.

It represented the United Kingdom in the Eurovision Song Contest 1968, held in London placing second behind the Spanish entry, “La, la, la”. The song went on to reach number 1 in many countries including Spain. He released the song in English, French, German, Spanish, and Italian.

The New Seekers were a British pop group, formed in London in 1969 by Keith Potger, after the break-up of his group, the Seekers. The idea was that the New Seekers would appeal to the same market as the original Seekers, but their music would have pop as well as folk influences. They achieved worldwide success in the early 1970s with hits including “I’d Like to Teach the World to Sing”, “You Won’t Find Another Fool Like Me” and “Beg, Steal or Borrow”. The New Seekers represented United Kingdom at the Eurovision Song Contest 1972 with “Beg, Steal or Borrow”, finishing in 2nd place with 114 points.

Clodagh Rodgers (5 March 1947 – 18 April 2025) was a Northern Irish singer, best known for her hit singles including “Come Back and Shake Me”, “Goodnight Midnight” and “Jack in the Box” and albums including You Are My Music, It’s Different Now and Save Me. Rodgers was born in County Down in 1947 and started singing at the age of 13. She made her television debut in September 1962. She represented the United Kingdom at the Eurovision Song Contest 1971 with “Jack in the Box”, and finished in fourth place.

Mary Elizabeth Blodwen Hopkin (born 3 May 1950), credited on some recordings as Mary Visconti from her marriage to Tony Visconti, is a Welsh singer best known for her 1968 UK number one single “Those Were the Days”. She was one of the first artists to be signed to the Beatles’ Apple label. Mary Hopkin represented United Kingdom at the Eurovision Song Contest 1970 with “Knock, Knock Who’s There?”, finishing in 2nd place with 26 points.

Lulu Kennedy-Cairns (born Marie McDonald McLaughlin Lawrie; 3 November 1948) is a Scottish singer, songwriter, actress and television personality whose career has spanned six decades. Her debut single, a cover version of The Isley Brothers song “Shout”, reached the top ten of the UK Singles Chart in 1964. In 1967, she rose to international prominence after appearing in the film To Sir, with Love, singing the theme song, the melody written by Mark London, which topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the United States for five consecutive weeks and became America’s biggest-selling single of 1967. During the 1960s, she achieved another five top-ten hits on the UK Singles Chart, including “Boom Bang-a-Bang”, which won the Eurovision Song Contest 1969.

As her thirteenth UK single release, “Puppet on a String” became a UK Singles Chart number one hit on 27 April 1967, staying at the top for a total of three weeks. On the Billboard charts in the United States, a 1967 version by Al Hirt went to number 18 on the Adult Contemporary chart and missed the main Hot 100 chart, though it appeared at number 129 on the Bubbling Under Hot 100 list of songs nearing the Hot 100.

Kenneth McKellar (23 June 1927 – 9 April 2010) was a Scottish tenor. Kenneth McKellar represented United Kingdom at the Eurovision Song Contest 1966 with “A Man Without Love”, finishing in 9th place with 8 points.
