Germany’s Eurovision representative has traditionally been selected through a nationally televised final under various names throughout the decades. The current format, Das deutsche Finale, continues this tradition by inviting a shortlist of artists to compete for the ticket to Eurovision. Germany’s national finals have introduced memorable Eurovision acts including Lena, whose victory with Satellite brought Germany its second Eurovision title in 2010, and Michael Schulte, who achieved Germany’s best result in years with a fourth-place finish in 2018.
