Romania’s Selecția Națională has been used to select the country’s Eurovision entries since the 1990s, becoming one of Eastern Europe’s longest-running national finals. The contest has introduced many of Romania’s best-known Eurovision artists, including Paula Seling & Ovi, Luminita Anghel, Ilinca, and The Humans. Romania has twice finished third at Eurovision—through Luminița Anghel & Sistem in 2005 and Paula Seling & Ovi in 2010—cementing its reputation as one of the contest’s strongest modern participants.
