Preparations for the Eurovision Song Contest 2027 in Burgas are gathering pace, with city authorities revealing a new proposed location for Eurovision Village, one of the contest’s most popular attractions.

Following a meeting on 12 October, Burgas Mayor Dimitar Nikolov and Bulgaria’s Minister of Transport, Georgi Peev, agreed to prepare an area at the Port of Burgas for the official Eurovision fan village.

The proposed site is located near the city’s Sea Station, on land previously occupied by Warehouse 7 (Magazia 7), offering visitors the possibility of enjoying Eurovision celebrations directly beside the Black Sea.

A New Waterfront Home for Eurovision Fans

The port location represents a change from earlier proposals, which included Troikata Square and an area near the Pantheon in Burgas’ Sea Garden.

According to local authorities, the waterfront site offers several advantages, including its proximity to the city centre, public transport connections and sufficient space to accommodate large crowds.

The former warehouse area is already undergoing clearance, with the Bulgarian government committing to preparing the site for inspection by representatives of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU).

However, the location has not yet received final EBU approval.

What Can Fans Expect from Eurovision Village?

Eurovision Village traditionally serves as the main public celebration area during Eurovision week, bringing together thousands of international visitors and local fans.

Although the official programme for Burgas 2027 has not yet been announced, Eurovision Village events typically include live performances, appearances by participating artists, entertainment activities and public screenings of the contest.

If approved, the waterfront location could create a distinctive atmosphere, combining Eurovision’s international music celebrations with Burgas’ seaside setting.

Its position near the Sea Station would also provide access to the central railway station, South Bus Station and the city’s pedestrian areas.

Transport Preparations Are Underway

During the same meeting, local and national authorities discussed improvements to transport connections ahead of the contest.

Burgas is preparing to welcome a significant increase in visitors, making airport connections, railway services, buses and local transport important priorities.

Municipal transport operator Burgasbus is also preparing English-language information about routes and stops to make travelling around the city easier for international fans.

Final Approval Still Required

While Burgas officials have identified the port area as their preferred location, the EBU must review and approve the site before Eurovision Village can be officially confirmed.

Further details about the venue layout, capacity, opening dates and entertainment programme are expected as preparations continue.

The Eurovision Song Contest 2027 will take place at Arena Burgas, with semi-finals scheduled for 11 and 13 May and the Grand Final on 15 May.

For fans planning to visit Bulgaria, the proposed Eurovision Village promises another reason to explore Burgas beyond the main competition shows.
